"In this regard," Schilling said, "I think you will find the Stokely operation is the cleanest in tbe country." "It takes great care to ensure that odor is re- duced as much as possi- ble by installing machinery for that pur- pose and also by ensur- ing that solid wastes are promptly moved from the site. " The company has also donated its products to community groups to promote their activi- ties. The Whitby Jaycees are using Stokely beans and Gatorade in connec- tion with an upcoming convention. Gatorade bas also been used by the Town of Whitby at' its tourist information centre. "In fact," Schilling said, "Gatorade is becoming to Whitby what orange juice is to Florida and 1 can visual- ize 'Governor Attersley' doing the T.V. commer- cials. ' Stokely, he continued, has also supported local service clubs and minor athietic associations. "I arn old enough to remember when the main fund raising pro- ject of the Whitby Rotary Club was the farming of some acreage in Whitby for Stokely. Many kids have worn the Stokely name on their team uni- forms. " The local officers of the company, Schilling said, are also part of "the good citizen philo- sophy" and are involved with many community organizations. He concluded bis presentation to the chamber's annual meet- ing by paraphrasing one of Stokely's advertising slogans. 'A better bean there's neyer been' - a better corporate citizen there's neyer been. " SUPERIOR PROPANE LTD.
