ANY PERSON INTERESTED MAY, within twenty-one days after the date of mailing, personal service or publication of this notice, file with the Clerk of the Town of Whitby notice of an objection to the approval of the said by-laws or part thereof together with the details of ail or that portion of the'by-laws to which there is objection and detailed reasons thereof. ANY PERSON wishing to support the application for approval of the by-laws may, within twenty-one days after the date of mailing, personal service or publication of this notice, file with the Clerk of the Town of Whitby notice of support of the application for approval of the said by-laws. THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF WHITBY BY-LAW NUMBER 1296-81 BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW NUMBER 1784 WHEREAS the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Whitby deems it advisable to amend By-law 1784. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED, AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED as a By- law of the Corporation of the Town of Whitby by the Council thereof, as follows:- (1) That Section 2 of By-law No. 1784 is hereby amended by deleting subsection (zg) in its entirety and replacing it with the following: "PARKING SPACE" means an area -0f not less than 16.5 square -metres, exclusive of any aisies or ingress and egress lanes, with a minim.um perpendicular width of 2.75 metres and a minimum perpen- dicular length of 5.5 metres for the temporary parking or storage of motor vehicles and may include a private garage. (2) That Section 2 of By-law No. 1784 is hereby amended by adding the following additional subsections: (ac) "APARTMENT DWELLING HOUSE" means the whole 0f a dwelling house that contains four or more dwelling units which units have a common entrance from street level .and are served by a common corridor and the occupants of which units have the right to use in common, the corridors, stairs, yards or one or more of them. An "Apartment Dwelling House" does not include a maisonette dwell- ing house or a quadraplex dwelling house,sa group of row dwelling houses, or a pair or group of semi-detached duplex, or duplex dwell- ing houses. (zda) "NURSING HOME" means a building in which the proprietor sup- plies for hire or gain, lodging with or without meals and, in addition, provides nursing, medical or similar care and treatment, if required, and includes a rest home or convalescent home, but does not in- clude any other establishment otherwise defined or classified herein. (zua) "UNDERTAKING. ESTABLISHMENT" means any premises where preparation of the dead human body for interment or cremation is undertaken. (3) That Section 2 of By-law 1784 is hereby amended by deleting sub- section (d) in its entirety and replacing it with the following: "COMMUNITY CENTRE" means a building or part of a building in. which facilities are provided for such purposes as meetings for civic, educatiçnal, political, or religlous, or social purposes and shall in- clude a banquet hall or private club. There are openings in all sections - alto, bass, soprano and tenor 7 and male singers are espe- cially needed. The ability to read music is an asset but not essen- tial. EXHIBITIONS The Whitby Arts Gallery will be featur- ing the work of four ar- tists t giroughoütle month of January. The artists are K.M. Graham, George Haw- ken, Karen Kulyk and Reinhard Reitzenstein. This exhibition is organized and circu- lated by the Art Gallery of Ontario. The gallery is located at the corner of Henry and Victoria Streets and is open Tuesday to Thursday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. It is also open on Fridays from'12 noon to 5 p.m. and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. EUCHRE The Ladies' Auxiliary of Branch 112 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a euchre night on January 21 beginning at 8 p.m. at the Legion Hall, Byron Street South.
