Goddo at A.C.V.I., school band active One of the things that Andersonians can truly take pride in is the musi- cal entertainment available at Anderson, both local and imported. On Friday, January 22,. Anderson's stage featured the popular rock band, Goddo. Ticket sales held in ad- vance to calculate the popularity of this group were a financial suc- cess. On Friday night, the gym was packed with over 700 enthusias- tic and impatient stu- dents. The show opened with "Tizzy Limit", a group from our very own school: And then, out of the inky blackness of the Anderson stage, Goddo sprang to life. Their electric performance generated spontaneous enthusiasm from every- one present. The 90- minute concert featured many of their old songs along with their new hit, "Pretty Bad Boy" which was punctuated by Greg Godovitz's son saying "I'm just a pret- ty bad boy", in his authentic 5-year-old voice. Credit must go to the student council for their smooth organiza- tion of this successful event. The next few months will be busy for those students who still study music at Anderson. In early February, the An- derson Band plans to visit our "feeder schools": Dr. Robert Thornton Public School; Meadowerest Public School; and Whitby Senior Public School. The band performs a concert at each elemen- tary school to inform the Grade Seven and Eights about the music pro- gram at ACVI. The An- derson Band plans to perform a 24-hour play- a-thon from February 19 to 20. The students are raising funds for a new sound system for the band. . Sponsor sheets will be out soon, and we hope the citizens of Whitby and Brooklin will help in this cause. A few students have also been hearing the "music" from their parents because report cards were issued on January 21. However the grade 13's got a wel- comed break when the staff decided to withhold the marks to be sent to the universities until af- ter the March reports. The grade 13's thank you, staff!! Hawks hand Blades a deafeat The Hamilton Hawks proved too much for the Whitby Blades ladies hockey team to handle this past weekend, dumping the hometown club8 to 0. Since the new year began the Blades, a "B" division team, have faced three "A" division squads, those being Burlington, Brampton and the Hawks. The Blades have lost all three by scores of 6 to 0, 2 to1 and, most recen- tly, 8 to 0. "I think the team got alittle down Sunday when they feel behind after having held the second place "A" divi- sion team so well the week before," said Ruth Pitre, manager of the Blades. Marg Fraser was voted the Blades M.V.P. after she was shifted from defence to a for- ward position for the game. Vicki Moffatt was voted the M.V.D. With only eight games remaining in regular season play, including two yet to be resche- duled, the Blades are sitting in second spot in the "B" division behind the London Dilts. Point Edward and Downsview follow in third and four- th spot. The Whitby ladies are by no means coasting into the playoffs. A num- ber of tournaments lie in the way before the end of the 1981-82 hockey season. The Blades will be tra- velling to Wallaceburg for the annual Wallace- burg Lipstick Tourna- ment on February 12 to 14. The tournament will host teams from ladies "'A",? "B" and "C" divisions. Other tournaments in- clude Quebec, Niagara Falls and the upcoming Provincial Playdowns, to be held in Brockville this year. The play- downs will see "B" division teams from all over Ontario competing for top honors. The . Blades' next regular league game is this Sunday when they take on the Donsview Ladies at the Brooklin Memorial Arena, beginning at ila.m. Whitby Iroquois Indoor Soccer Games Played January 30,'1982 SQUIRT DIVISION: Frank Real Estate...........0 Shoppers Drug Mart'.........6 Geoff Williams 3 Paul Francis 2 Michael Wolff 1 Scottish Bake Shop .............1 Steven Macbeth 1 SQUIRT DIVISION STANDINGS: GP Scottish Bake Shop 9 Family Trust 9 Shoppers Drug Mart 9 Kim Crouch Collar 9 Frank Real Estate 9 Whitby Rotary 9 ATOM DIVISION: Dairy Queen ...................4 Sheri Naulls 1 Collin Manson 1 Jeff Finn 1 Kevin Macleud i Family Kartway .............6 Warren Mibburn 3 Mark Bateman -2 Trevor Lucas 1 Oshawa Meat Product.......... 2 Jim Stolar 1 Royston McMahon 1 ATOM DIVISION STANDINGS: Whitby Rotary .................9 Ron Iamonaco 4 Graham McDougall 2 Dave Parfitt 1 Craig McConnell 1 Rob Sutton 1 Family Trust ..................6 Craig McConnell 3 Charles Tozer 1 James Davidson 1 Rob Sutton 1 Kim Crouch Collar ..........4 Jared Stevens ( 2 Gavin Dowse 2 GA 23 34 29 32 50 46 Kiwanis .......................4 Luigi Pepe 3 Joey Iantomasi 1 MacCauley Furniture........0 Whitby Mall Restaurant......3 Mark Blasak 2 Fronco Celebri 1 GP W L T GF Family Kartway 9 6 2 1 36 Dairy Queen 9 5 2 2 37 Whitby Mall Restaurant 9 6 3 0 31 Oshawa Meat Product 9 3 4 2 35 Kiwanis 9 2 5 2 26 MacCauley Furniture 9 1 7 i 15 PEE WEE DIVISION: George Cini Barber Shop...5 Van Houf Construction John Curry S2 Tony Calabrese Danny Love 2 Mike Davidson Wally Borg 1 Wiggers Furniture .......... 3 Tottem Sims Hubicki...
