M I WHITBY WOMEN'S INýTITUTE The 'Annual Meeting' wil be the topic of the Whitby Women's Institute meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Grace Carr, 309 Dunlop Street East on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Visitors welcome. The March meeting took place at the home of Mrs. Laura McCarl, 215 Reedaire Court, on March 24 at 1:30 p.m. Twelve mnembers and one visitor, Mrs. G. Bovay, attended. The roll cail was an- swered with the naine of an officer in the district area. The topicfor the meeting was 'Method of Publicity for Women's Institute'. The convenor was Publie Relations Officer, Mrs. J. Smith. A deliejous home-made luncheon was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Bessie Acton and Mrs. Grace Cari,, followed by, a social hour. RemeMber, the next meeting wil be April 28, and visitors are welcome. CARD PARTY The Whitby Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star No. 248, are hosting a card party on Wednesday, April 24 (tonight) at 8p.m.-in the Ma sonic Temple- on Coehrane Street, Whitby. First vice-president Lee Hewitt was chairman *for that meeting.,, The chairman wel- comed guests and mein- bers and set the theme for the evening which was '"C hanging Your Image". Topicinistrese, Pauline Torresan carried through with theme and requested one-minute impromptu speeches. The trophy winner for the best mini- speech was Shirley MacDonald. Af ter the business session, Toastmistress Betty Dubowski, chang- ing her image to be bilingual, made intro- ductio 'ns and acknow- ledgements of, speakers in both French _and English. The, speaklng section .f the, program was educational and en- tertaining. Three pre- sentations were made includlng -a research speech by Lee, Irwin en- titled "Are Doctors going to the -Dogs?", and a real image change for Marguerite Kulik, as she depicted a southern gai, complete with ac- cent and attire, with a speech 'entitled "The Way It Was" The final presentation was quitea change for past-president Jeann- ette Etter, who decided to shed ber, business-, woman's image and become a fashion coin- mentator, organizing, ber very own fashion show. With the help of five, lovely models - Blarbara Blair,, Nancy Spencer, Myrna Picotte, Tearie Howie ..an d Heather Wilson - that show gave a llghter. tone to the evening's agenda. Evaluatinigthe three presentations were Pauline.Torresan, Shir- ley MacDonald and Fay .Winters respectively. Týimeêr for the evening was Barbara Blair and the, general, evaluator was club' president, Aithea Darwen. The next regular meeting of this club wil be held on Tuesday, April 20, at the Earl of Durbam Restaurant, 227 Brock'Street South, Whitby.
