Four of the local teams saw action in Peterborough on Sun- day afternoon. The tyke team was led by Arme Windover with 8 goals to a 13 to 6 win over the Peterborough tykes. Jonas Derks and Kelly Vipond each ad- ded a pair. Tom Smart added. a single. Ric Wilkes is the coach this year. The novices" had a close game which they finally yielded to Peter- borough who won by 13 to il. Paul Hamilton scored five times, Brian Greaves got four goals and Chris VanClive ad- ded a, pair. This was Whitby's Red, novice team. The Blue team plays against the Red team on Monday at Iro- quois Park Arena, after press time. The coach is Mike Thompson. Corny Derks - is their coach. -The Whitby bantams started with a power play goal, and scored the last two goals of the game but Peterboroughý had scored 15 times on breakaways during the middle of the game. Scoring for Whitby were Jeff Page, Simon Lewis and Wayne Cornish. Coaching this year is Chuck Lepine. Also reserve the weekend of June il, 12 and 13 for a lot of la- crosse action as the On- tario Bantam teams have a tournament in Iroquois Park to deter- mine who qualifies for Wintario assistance to go to the national play- downs. Thornton ri-'bbon winners Pupils at Wbitby's Dr. Robert Thornton Public School won 137 ribbons at a recent track meet held at the Civic Fields in Oshawa*against 17 other public achools in the Wbitby and Ajax area..1 About 90 pupils in grades 4 to 8 took part in the meet carrying away 33 first place ribbons; 36 second place ribbons; 20 third place ribbons; 26 fourth place ribbons; 16 fifth place ribbons; ýand, six sixth place ribbons.
