The Oshawa native will replace Deputy Chief Ken Young who will retire early next year. Youngî18 currently on annual leave. In other. promotions, Inspector David Fle ming1 was promoted to the rank of acting superintendent to replace Edwards. Fleming wil become the commander of the force's Districtý 1 which includes Whitby, Oshawa and Newcastle. Fleming, 49, was a member of the Pickering Police Force prior to regionaliza- tion. J Replacing Edwards as head of1 the force's special services section is Superintendent Gerald Robinson who formerly acted as the commander of District 1.
