Islands Lure Sports Lovers The Cayman Islands, comprising thatsunny, three-island British Crown Colony in the Caribbean, are famous the world over as one of the premier loca- tions for scuba diving. Divers corne from all parts of the world to savor the crystal-clear waters and multicolored reefs sur- rounding the islands. But, when scuba divers aren't diving, they're usu- ally enjoying other sports.: For example: Tennis in the Cayman Islands is easy-going, friendly and open. Here, dozens of courts in gorge- ous tropical settings beckon the intrepid tennis buff as well as the occa- sional player. There are over 30 all- weather courts on the is- lands, many with tourna- ment lighting. At both the Cayman Racquet Club and the Cayman Tennis Clubs, plexi-pave tennis courts are available for a temporary membership fee. The Racquet Club offers two indoor racquet- ball courts, shower and changing rooms, and.a restaurant and bar. At resorts-with-courts on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, most guests can play for free, while others may play with no * ANNOUNCEMENTS * RECEPTION CARDS * INVITATIONS * THANK YOU CARDS ePRINTING AND OFFICE SUPPLIES 1218 HARWOOD AVE. Biking Roads on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac are asphalt surfaced, and perfect for an after- noon spin on a bicycle or moped. Many resorts offer bicycles to guests for free, while mopeds and small trail motorcycles can be rented on both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. There are even bicycles- built-for-two available to honeymooners who want to double up for a ride. Hiking Much of Grand Cay- man, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman is still unde- veloped bush, thick with jungle greenery and or- chids. There are miles of beaches without a building on them, and on Cayman Brac a 140-foot bluff over- looks the pounding sea. . Bird watchers and other nature lovers delight in the Cayman Islands flora and fauna. Over a hundred species of birds annually migrate through Cayman Brac alonel The lucky hiker may even glimpse wild Caymanian parrots or the iguanas, which on Little Cayman grow to six feet in length. Sailing The image of a silert sailboat drifting into the sunset is a fantasy as old as the Caribbean, but in the Cayman Islands the fan- tasy becomes a reality. There are sailboats for rent or charter, from 8 to 80 feet in length. Off Grand Cayman's powdery white Seven Mile Beach, the placid turquoise waters sport Hobie cats and Sun- fish sailboats by the dozen. Coming on strong with islanders and visitors alike are windsurfers, a combi- nation surfboard and sail- boat that appeals to those with adventurous cravings for both sports. On Grand Cayman, larger craft may be char- tered for a day, a week, or a month. A favorite is the North Sound trip in which a chartered boat heads out for an afternoon on the sea, highlightéd by a beach cookout of fresh fish, conch and lobster. Visitors to the islands often delight in having an afternoon picnic at the side of a shady playing field. The hard-fought soccer season pits teams from vaious parts of the island against one another, cul- minating in an island-wide championship match. The sight of white- uniformed men on a ver- dant playing field fringed by coconut palms is an im- age seldom witnessed by North Americans. Cricket is a game that tends to mystify, but nevertheless intrigues. It requires a great deal of skill, and it's very much the game of gentlemen. All manner of sports aficionados love the Cay- man Islands. The weather is universally beautiful, never varying from 75 to BICYCLING is just one of the many activities for sports lovers to enjoy in the Cayman Islands, along the lovely tree-lined coast road and past white sand beaches. Hiking, tennis, rugby, cricket and sailing are a few of the other popular pastimes.t 85 degrees in temperature. Gentle winds and cool evenings assure a temperate clime. Rain showers come and go, but they never stay for long.t Cleaning Tips Can Help Honeymoon To Last Forever "The honeymoon's over," is an infamous phrase greeting brides as they face the challenge of bringing order to a new life, new home and possi- bly, new career. The bride of the '80s realizes that she must balance the roles and responsibilities of wife, homemaker and profes- sional in a vay unknown to brides of yesteryear. To help pave the way to wedded bliss, today's new- lyweds would be wise to heed some sage advice from a "good friend" who has been helping to clean and shine homes :for 95 years, Bon Ami. Time- tested household stalwarts like vinegar and baking soda are inexpensive, readily available and effec- tive cleaning agents. Just as important, they are gen- tIe products that won't harm delicate surfaces the way many of today's harsh, chemical-based cleaners can. Before moving day, give painted walls the once-over with a home- made solution of I cup ammonia and,/ cup bak- ing soda mixed with one gallon of warm water. • To clean and deodor- ize bread boards and wooden counter tops, mix ½ cup baking soda in one quart warm water and scrub with a scouring pad. Rinse well and pat surface dry. When completely dry, restore the finish by rub- bing salad oil into wood with a steel wool pad. • For the tub and sink, go easy and gently with Bon Ami, the mildly abra- sive cleanser that with reg- ular use will restore luster to porcelain fixtures in 60 to 90 days. • To rid rooms of smoky or stale odors, put a few drops of wintergreen on a cotton ball and place out of sight to absorb un- wanted smells. • To clear a clogged drain, pour ½ cup baking soda followed by ½ cup vinegar; let the two react and flush with hot water. • For an instant stain remover for fresh spots, pour a little club soda on the spot, let it set and sponge up the excess. Shaving cream is also a good spot remover. • Burned-on foods o the bottom of pots and pans can be removed by filling them with water plus a spoonful of Bon Ami, and boiling until the food loosens. For more hints on keeping the home in top form and "extending the honeymoon," write for the 12-page illustrated booklet, "Clean As A Whistle: A mother's guide to handling housework."
