Social services minis- ter Frank Drea an- nounced in November that the centre, along with five others in the province, will be phased out by 1987. Drea said residents would be inte- grated into community group homes, or sent to larger institutions. BOA RD IGNORES PARENT PROTEST, MOVES DENIS O'CONNOR TO AJAX The announcement that Denis O'Connor High Sehool will be moved from Whitby to Ajax by the fahl of 1984 came as a blow to separate sehool supporters in November of 1982. The controversial decision to move the school brought hundreds of separate school supporters and the entire Whitby Town Council out to the November Board meeting. Story on page 5. Publie employeesblast Davis restraint program It was a year of pro- test for public employ- ees, aÉ the Ontario gov- ernment's restraint bill brought demonstrations to Whitby.
