WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY JANUARY 19, 1983, PAGE 7 , HIGH SCHOOL NEWS WEEK Anderson students fight the January "blahs" with activities Firstly, on the sports scene, our senior girls' volleyball team defeat- ed our arch rivals, Henry Street, three games to two on Jan. 4. Way to go, girls! Our junior boys' basketball team started off equally well, conquering Vanier 87 to 24 in their first game, and DO'C 69 to 31 in their second game. The senior boys' team showed a promising come back when they gained 20 points in a game with Vanier, thus making our loss more bearable with a score of 62 to 69 for Vanier. On another angle of school-life, we must re- member that our bio- logy students made suc- cessful visits to the Science Centre Jan. 13 and 14. Also, report cards will be issued Jan. 19, to be followed by a parent's night on Jan. 27. Our band will be having a 24-hour play-a- thon to raise money on Feb.4and5. One upcoming note- worthy event is the In- terface excursion to St. Donat, Quebec from Jan. 23 to 26. A small group of Anderson stu- dents will participate in this three-day French immersion program. They will mainly be going alpine and cross- country skiing. In addi- tion they will take cour- ses on culture in Quebec and winter survival. All of the courses will be taught in. French and should therefore prove highly beneficial to our eager French students. Hopefully there will be enough snow for this French ski excursion. On a similar note our Anderson ski club is Anderson ski club is praying for snow so that they will be able to have their full eight weeks of skiing on Thursday nights at the Oshawa Ski Club in Kirby.
