PAGE .12ZWEDNESDAY ABRIIL,i8,WIYFREPES HIGH SCHOOLNEWS WEEK Anderson team makes whirlwind tour of Europe By CATHAL FLYNN-POST Anderson C.V. On March 10, the An- derson Rugby team lef t on their tour of England, Wales and France. Their first stop was in L ondon where they took a three-hour bus tour. They saw such sights as Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street and Big Ben. From London, they proceeded to Dover where each team played two games; the midget team losing both and the juni ors- splitting the decision with one win and one loss. While in Dover, they stayed at the Duke of York Royal Military Academy. The hospi- tality was excellent and the team thoroughly en- joyed their stay there. From Dover the team. travelled to Boulogne, France for a day.- From France, they tr-avelled back to Dover and on to Bristol. While in Bristol, each team played another two games and each team lost both of their games. Their stay in 'Bristol was also enjoy- able and they toured the eity and the surrounding area. While in Bristol the host sehool organized dances for the team at the Rugby club and once again the hosts were excellent. From Bristol the sehools travelled into Wales where their first stop was in the Swansea area. The teams played another two games each and once again both teams lost. Many of the boys on the tour still say that their stay in the Swan- sea area was the best on the tour. While in Swan- sea, the team went to a disco, swimming and many players went to the seaside which was a majestic sight. One of the teachers took 110 pictures I From Swansea, the team went to Amanford in the Aman Valley. While in Amanford, the midget team played one game and 'lost and the juniors played two games and once again split the decision with one win and one loss. Touring in the Aman Vailey i nvolved visiting a castle, a thirteenth century pub and the final night the team had a typical Welsh meal and celebration. The team returned to Canada on March 26 and had a safe flight across fromn Heathrow to Toronto. On March 30, a teamn from Fishguard, Wales, arrived in Toronto. The Anderson team hosted them and played sever- al games against the visiting club. The results will be revealed latex'!
