It is rewarding to reflect back on the ef- forts of your harvest and swing open the doors to a new season of production and planting. We in Ontario have shared in a devastating econo- my during the past 12 months, yet here in Whitby I believe, we have stood strong. I am often question- ed on the unique formula we have here in this town and my only answer is I'our people". For example, our agriculture industry is a major priorlty in serving to, offset any economic problems. The produce provlded by our farmers reaches beyond their individual operations and supports many jobs for Canadian people through their requirements in the machine industry. I believe each industry must accept interdepend- ence as the key to, sustaining growth development and here in Whitby, we visibly recognize this cycle as a major support source. Linking services with needs will always sharpen the concepts of people production. I am certain you realize within the past few years, we have been attempting to develop a greater liaison with aill our family industries in Whitby and introduce a wider awareness of'the quality life within this community. As a result, we have received outst.anding support from, not only the manufacturers, but the business sector as well, to, achieve this goal.. A grant from the federal government was recent- ly received to add support to thi 's area of increased communication and revitalization. I am deeply im- pressed with the achievements of this project, and the compliment 'contribution from ýail avenues of service in the town of Whitby. Our increased visitor level to the Tourist Centre fias encouraged the Ministerial Association to develop, a brochure on the churches and services within this area which will, Of course, offer our traveilers the information they have so, often requested in the past. Various other publications are being produced to assist in the promotion of the town of Whitby and I am confident the past harvesting of information will blend with this season as we plant the -support our people deserve in making our home the future foundation for our children. Thank you for your continuing support - have a happy Easter season. Crrido r Capers By MARY MCEACHERN WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH Junior Choir Practice.
