At the end of round- robin play, Whitby teams had collected 15 out of a possible 30 poin- ts for a respectable third place showing. Brampton was thxe overail wlnner. The tyke Redmnen were flat as they started this Canada Day weekend with 13-O bos to Spartan Warriors. They improved in their second game but Peter- boro had a flurry of goals in the last few minutes te defeat the Redmen by 9-3. Whitby scorers were Wayne Prlmeau, Scott, Mac- Doneil and Michael Massey. The tyke Red- men left the tournament on a prouder note with a 6-2 win over a deter- mined Hamilton team. Scott MacDoneil scored three goals in a row to start the Redmen.- Jeff Kolesnikowicz scored his first of the season and Michael Massey completed the scoring. The major novice team, the Optimists, began their part at the Super Serles with a 6-2 *in over Kitchener Braves. Optimists goals were by Dennis Directe, Rob Martin, Chris Thompson, David Wood, Alan Frank and Matt Shearer. They made a very vallant effort against the stronger Brampten novices who won 7-2. Bill Robinson and David Wood scored for Whitby.' The Op- timists then shutout Spartan 10-0. Shearer scored three times, two each by Wood and Frank, singles by Direc- te, Greg Fawcett and Brandon Smith. The 'major peewee team from Hideaway Bingo made their en- trance at Hamilton wlth a 7-4 win over St. Catherines Eagles. Sbawn Emmer- ton deserves honorable mention for his net- mindlng heroics; Peacock Sports ban- tams won 8-5 over Burlington on pairs by Greg Vansickle and Wayne Cornish, singles by Steve Nolan, Simon Lewis, Emery Campbell and Rich Dyment. They were surprised by a hungrier Kitchener team. Vansickle scored three in, this 8-5 boss with singles by Cornish and Nolan. They tamed the Hamilton Bengals with a 12-4 win. Four goals each by Vansickle and Cornish, one by Steve Dyment, Rich Dyrnent, Tom Frank and Steve Nolan. Goal-âne duties were shared by Chris Fowlie and Dan Mc- Whlrter. Whltby's Firat City midgets scored lots of goals te tie their firet game at the Hamilton tournament 10-10 wlth Spartan Warrlors. Greg Lepine had four goals, Gary Mark had three, Chris Ainsworth had two and Troy Brodhagen had one. Gary Mark scored twlce durlng a 7-2 boss te Hamilten midgets. Brampton overpowered them in their last game 15-4. Whitby scorers were Ainsworth, Brodhagen, Mark and Lepine.
