The Durham Association for Famlly Relief Services, 101 ,Mar St. West in Whit- by, bas a prograin to train "relief familles" to take in handicapped persons for short-term relief. The Association bas found that although it is easy to find a sitter for chlldren, parents with handicapped children have difflculties maklng these arrangements. The speakers cover such areas as first-aid, play and stimulation, growth and develop- ment, specific han- dicaps and behaviour management. There is a wide spec- trum 0of information available and, they welcome active par- ticipation. The course runs for 10 weeks star- ting Sept. 21. There is no obligation to become a relief parent when you take th course. Many people take It' for their own interest or to fur- ther their education.
