On the other hand, Anderson will play a baIl control runming game behind four veteran seniors on the offensive line. Henry Street coach, Pat Pucknell, describes lits team's offence as " shoot and shoot", similar to the, Toronto Argonauts run and shoot attack. Tom Clarke, an MVP in junior last year, Ian Parsons, a first-year player and Brian Yorke, up from the juniors, will step into twin slotback positions. The offensive line is heavily dependant on Chris Jones, a third- year senior, who plays guard or centre. He is fresh from a summer stint with the Oshawa Hawkeyes football squad. According to Pucknell, the running backs, rookies to senior competition, are also small and compact. The defence features a small but quick secon- dary, led by rover Santo Giardina, a second-year senior, who the coach assesses as being ex- cellent at reading* the oppostition's plays. The linebacker positions are still up for grabs with four or five guys battling it out for the starting spots. Pucknell says because of lis teams' small stature, they will likely go predominately with a 3-4 defence. Although about- 65» initially turned Up for tryouts, Pucknell says he does not determine a player"s fate. "lWe don't eut anyone they eut themselves," he said. In the East/West exhibition game against Donevan, everybody got into the game as the teams battled to a 6-6 saw-off. Juniors Greg Guatto and Eugene Mellwain also look like they're about ready to con- tribute. Third-year senior quarterback Tony Squarciatto can heave the ball but it's a -matter of finding someone for him to throw the bail to according to Pither.. Mike Frederick could prove to be just that receiver the team needs. The defence will be anchored, by Rerrich, Cunningham and Chur- ch, who will bo playing both ways, on the defen- >sive line. Dale . Paul Keys and twins John and Jim Pipher should anchor the defensive secondary. Pither does express some concern over lis defence. "If we want to do well we really have. to work it, " he said.
