And Repairing Heritage Buildings. The, first of these worksbops wiil present the various forms of funding, grants, and financing available for the. conservation. and restoration of beritage 1buildings designated 1under the Ontario Heritage Act. A brief presentation wiil also address the designation process. This workshop - Finan- cing For Restoration And Profit -- wii be held on Tuesday, October 18, f rom 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wbitby Public Library Auditorium. Tphere is no admission charge.' The subsequent two workshops will be beld in March and April of 1984. Although the worksbops are of in- terest to ail those who appreciate older buildings, they 'are designed for those people who own a heritage building and wish to preserve it by restoring it to its earlier or original state. The workshops wiil be addressed by current experts in the field who are able to answer specific questions and recommend the most suitable solutions. Currently, the Town Of Whitby bas designated ' seven buildings, six more are being designated, and further designations are being requested. Designated structures do not only enjoy protec- tion from developmen- tai pressures and progress, but more im- portantly, ensure the vitality, stability and character of our towns and cities., The grandeur of some buildings such as'The Terrace bas until now been stripped by neglect PAVED DRIVEWAY St. Leo's separate school ini Brooklin will get a new paved driveway. Durham Separate Board of Education last week decided to pave the pothole-flled driveway, despite 'a recommendation by the committee that the work not be completed.
