The joint Ontario Veterinary Association and Society of Ontario Veterinarians proposai Veterinarians proposai stems from concern over the provincial rabies problemn and the desire to overcome many of the health problems encountered during mass clinics held by other groups. In previous years, local municipalities or Ministry of Health agencies have run mass rabies vaccination clinics organized to reach people who neither can nor will use the regular veterinary services of their com- munity. Many animaIs have received rabies immunizations through these mass ciinics; but, the methods have been far from ideal according IRAISED j .PRINTINMG First month completed at, Denis O'Connor *WE DO USED CARS TOO 8 year guarantee on new cars BUILDERS CLEARANCE JIM VIC HOMES mi r w, - From $119.000 - fluai Our SajUrÃ"aY octoben1tr I t. k.. - c~nffl. 2 p.m - '.' The veterinary profession says not al animal owners will avail themselves of ful service veterinary care, yet it feels that mass clinics held at public expense are not the an- swer. The Ontario Veterinary Association and the Society of On- tario Veterinarians believe their proposai will eliminate many 0f the problems associated wîth former mass clinics. By using veterinary facilities, the program wiii cover the entire province. Proper records wiii be main- tained and the risk of disease spread will be reduced. If emergency care is needed by an animal (L.e. adverse vaccine reaction), it will be readily available. Any obvious medical problems observed at wili be pointed out to owners. The Ontario Veterinary Association and Society of Ontario Veterinarians stress that rabies is flot the only disease animais should be vaccinated for. Owners wiil be ad- vised during the rabies vaccination chiics to obtain full protection for their animai. The animais wiii not be given physicai, examinations at the time of the vaccination. participating cduncs ln this area include Ajax Animal Hospital, Baker Animal Cii, Brooklin Veterinary Hospital, Brooklin Village Animal Hospital, Durham Veterinary Clinic, East Oshawa Animal Hospital, MacKay Animal Clinic, Taunton Road Animal Hospital and Oshawa Animal Hospital.
