Free Press Staff Photo Ajax delaying passage of exotie animal bylaw The proposed bylaw prohibiting the keeping of exotic animals as pets will not be enacted until later this year, accor- ding to North Ward Councillor Ross Batten. Batten is the chair- man of the Pickering Ajax and Whitby Joint Animal Control Com- mittee (P.A.W. Com- mittee) which oversees the operation of the local branch of the On- tario Humane Society. The delay has been caused by the Town of Ajax which wants to study the measure fur- ther before it implemen- ts the bylaw. All three municipalities want to enact similiar regulations to make them easier for the humane society to en- force.
