STUDENT PARLIAMENT: To enhance the celebration of Ontario's Bicentennial during Education Week, 1984, the Ontario Secondary Scbool Students' Association co-ordianted a "Student Parliament" on May 2,1984. I was pleased to mee t my counterpart - as tbe "M.P.P. for Durham West" - Paula Marie Hadden -' a Grade 12 student of Dennis O'Connor Hligh Scbool in Wbitby at the legislature last Wednesday. Paula was selected to represent Durham West in the student parliament and I understand that tbe day's events were most interesting!1 "BICENTENNIAL IN BLOOM"I: Tomorrow, Premier William Davis will place tbe final plant in a Bicentennial flower bed to mark the opening day of a "Bicentennial in Bloom" contest. This event will take place at Cullen Garden and Miniature Village and is being.coordinated by Weall and Cullen Nurseries, 590 CKEY, MTV-47 and the Ontario Bicentennial Celebrations. "Bicentennial in Bloom " encourages Ontarians to beautify the province by planting flowers-in pots, planters or'gardens in arrangements reflecting our beritage. Ballots and contest rules are available at Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village. It j 's appropriate that one of our region's finest tourist attraction - Cullen Gardens - has taken a leadersbip role in encouraging ail Ontarians to par- ticipate in "Bicentennial in Bloom" as we celebrate our Bicentennial together. COMMEMORATIVE SCROLLS: Tbe Province of Ontario has incorporated the Bicentennial theme in the design of commemorative scrolls presented to Ontarians celebrating 5tb and succeeding wedding anniversaries or 9th and succeeding birtbdays.. If a famlly orfriend is celebrating one of these milestones,'please cail my riding office (683-6707) and provide them with details of the celebration. Arrangements will then be made to have the ap- propriate congratulatory scroll prepared. I would be honoured to attend the celebration, to present the scroll and bring personal greetingsi,as weIl as bring greetings on behaîf of Premier William Davis.
