W., Oshawa, owned and operated by Marie and Kilby Perks is one of Durham Regions newest eating places. This roadhouse, which opened March 30, provides both good food and good entertainment daily. The highllght of the week is definetly the Sunday brunch, which is both pleasing to the eye and the palatte. There is a choice of 27 items, highlighted with roast beef, fresh poached British Colum- bia salmon, chicken cacciatore and Swedish meatbails. Also available for late risers, are breakfast foods. Served between il a.m. and 3 p.m. this gourmet delight is reasonably priced at $7.95 for adults and $3.95 for children. A full menu is available for both lunch and dinner, il toi1 a.m., Monday to Saturday and il arn. to il p.m. on Sunday. The lunch menu has been designed to have No-Bake Desserts, Divine for Summer Summer is not the time to be steaming over a hot stove but it is traditionally a time for entertaining, such occasions are even better when the garden is in full bloom thus pro- viding extra room for family and friends. Desserts, à kyays a sum- mertime favourite should look and taste impressive. These recipes have been dcveloped specifically for maximum effect with minimum fuss. No baking is required but the hint of Kahlua liqueur makes them deliciously memo- ,,ble. SUPumýer Dip A delicately flavoured creamn cheese dip to be served with home-made ,wafcrs and fruit, such as strawberries, bananas or pineapple chunks, for dip- ping. J package (250 g) crearn cheese, softened '/ï' cup, Kahlua cofféeei- queur (75 mL) 2 tbsp ight cream (30 mL) 2 tbsp chopped, toasted blanched almonds (30 rnL) Cream cheese. Graduai- ly beat in Kahlua and creamn until mixture is smooth. Stir in almonds. Serve in small dish on a platter or tray. Surround with wafers and fruit. Ice Cream Surprise A deliejous mixture of cream and Kahlua. Make the day before. J1 (2Sp unflavored gelatin (7 mL) 1 cup milk (250 mL) 2 eggs yolks V4 (sp sait (J mL) V2 cup Kahlua (125 mL) 1 (sp vanilla (5 mL) 2 egg whites 2 tbsp sugar (30 mL) 1 cup whipping cream (250 mL) Sliced KiwiUruit Sprinkle gelatin over milk in a small saucepan, let stand 5 minutes. Beat egg yolks and sait, stir into milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until gelatin dissolves and mix- ture thickens slightly. Cool. Stir in Kahlua and vanilla. Chili until mixture begins to thicken. Beat egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form. Beat cream until soit peaks form. Fold egg whites and whipped cream into cooled custard. Turn into 81/2x 4/2x 21/2inch (1.5 L) loaf pan. Freeze 4 to 6 hours or more. Serve in dessert glasses, decorate with Kiwifruit. Makes 8 serv- ings.
