Ismail Coovadia, the owner 0f the local fran- chise, says that most people don't realize that while a complete list of crepes, and pancakes are on the menu, it's not I~~until after they sit down that they see other items such as chicken fingers, roast beef, pork tenderlion, fish and chips and chili are also offered. "A lot of people per- ceive us as just as pan- cake house," he says, "But we're a complete family restaurant." The prices are reasonable. In fact, the most expensive item on the menu is the New York sirloin which retails for $9.65. But most items are between $and $5. i The most interesting family breakfast plat- ter. For $13.95 you get fruit juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and ail the buttermilk and buckwheat pan- cakes four people can eat. Additional people wil cost $3.65 a piece. The Golden Griddle also offers a children's menu which boasts among other things, chocolate pancakes and a griled peanut butter sandwich. While the 175-seat establishment is licen- ced, the selling of wine, beer and spirits is not a top priority. "«Our liquor sales are not even four per cent of our gross sales," Coovadia says noting "This is a family restaurant.
