The shut- out was earned by Jeremy Mele. 1Atom Hutchison - 5 Whltby Optimist Club -2, The first half was a see-saw battle with each club taking the lead at times, firstly Optimists 1-O and then Hutchison 2-1.- Optimists tallied apan before the break to tie the game 2-2 at haîf-tinie. The second haif was alI Hutchison counting for three goals without reply to take the championship 5-2. PaUl Beckmnan and Geoff Cadan each, scored twice for Hutchison while Michael Goode had one. Both Optimists goals were scored by Mike Brillinger. Mosquito Perklns Paints - 3 Dairy Queen - 1 While Dairy Queen had their share of the play in the first haîf they failed to capitalize on their chances, while Perkins Paints did to earn* a 2-0 lead at the haif. The second haîf was controlled by Perkins Paints but they only scored once as did Dairy Queen for their consolation goal. Joe Muicahey with two and Ken Van- dermuelien tallied for the Optimists with T. & E. goals being scored by Brian Marsh, Brad Beer and Tomnmie Hoo-Hing. The annual Lawmen tie first By MARK VINCENT Free Press Staff The Lawmen opened up their season and stay in Whitby, Sunday night, with a 2-ail tie against the North York Red Wings. During an exciting and often rough game the Lawmen demon- strated their burning desire to win and their lack of experience of playing together. In the first period, the Lawmen attacked the Red Wings agressively but allowed too many penalties against them. The result was a 1-0 lead for the Red Wings as they capitalized on a power play. -The Lawmen out-played and out-hustled the Red Wings but their mistakes cost them. The second period was the Lawmen playing more cohesively with iess penalties., At the 9:30 minute mark Scott Ray scored the tying goal with an assist from Steve Morden.
