"NOBODY DOES IT BETTER!" DENNIS ANDERSON CHEVROLET e OLDSMOBILE 268 QUEEN STREET, PORT PERRY 985-8401 (SERVICE 985-9273) New Ride And Power For Full-Size Chevy OSHAWA, Ont. -- For years, people have driven Chevrolet's full- size rear-wheel-drive Caprice Classies and Impalas for their boulevard ride and V8 power. In 1985, they'll be driving them for another reason: a new, more controlled ride which provides a new dimension in ride con- trol keeping with a theme Chevrolet ex- pressed last year with its mid-size Celebrity Eurosport. It runs coun- ter to the notion that ride quality must necessarily suffer as handling quality is im- proved. A carbureted version of the venerable 5.0 litre small-block V8 remains prominent on both Caprice and Impala op- tion lists. Also new for 1985 is the most -extensively redone interior since the Caprice/Impala twins were downsized in 1977. From sound systern to steering wheel, the flavor is more sassy, less sedate. Model lineup is un- changed from 1984: three Caprice Classies -- a two-door, a four-door and a station wagon; and a four-door Impala. Al models get fourth- generation all-season tires like those Chevrolet introduced last year on some other carlines, plus across- the-board availability of four-speed overdrive transmissions. A 5.7 litre V8 diesel engine remains available for all models. The 5.0 litre gasoline V8 which is optional on coupes and sedans is the standard engine on wagons. The 3.8 litre V6 engine is still base on coupes and sedans. Celebrity Gets Port-Injection V6 Celebrity, flagship of "NOW OPEN" IN WHITBY 1d b T.M. Protect it now... Before it's too late! The new engine -- a 2.8 litre V6 with multi-port injection - replaces the high-output carbureted 2.8 litre unit of last year. It's available across the board. The standard 2.5 litre fuel-injected L4 gets low-friction roller valve lifters and a new torque- axis mounting system. A carbureted V6, the above-mentioned MFI V6 and a 4.3 litre V6 diesel round out the engine lineup. Other new features for '85 include 14-inch wheels on ail models, standard power brakes, new hydraulic engine mounts for all except diesels and an assor- tment of chassis refinements. A four- speed overdrive automatic transmission is now available with gasoline-powered V6s. As a counterpoint to the blackout treatment given the Eurosport op- tion, a new white-out Eurosport is being con- sidered as a midyear entry. Model lineup is un- changed from 1984 -- a two-door coupe, a four- door sedan and a four- door wagon. '85 Monte Carlo Has Split Image The Monte Carlo SS is causing a big stir as the rambunctions cousin to the Grand National stock cars so popular on those NASCAR Sunday drives. The SS has been as successful in the showrooms as its look- alikes have been on race tracks. The 180- horsepower L69 5.0 litre V8, which has been an SS exclusive from the beginning, is back this year with a four-speed automatic tran- smission. Coming later in the year are removable black SS roof panels. Heretofore available in only white or blue, '85 SSs come in silver, maroon and black, too. Interiors now come in maroon or gray, front buckets or bench. Citation Il Gets Port-Injected 2.8 A 130-horsepower, port-injected 2.8 litre V6, incorporating GM's hot film mass air flow sensing technology, becomes the sole motivator for the Chevrolet Citation II X- il and the top- performer power plant for all other Citation Il models. (A fuel-injected 2.5 litre L4, now with roller valve lifters, is standard. A carbureted 2.8 litre V6 carried over from last year is also available.) Inside, the instrument panel is redone to ac- commodate, among other things, a horizon- tal radio. Bucket seats become standard equipment on two-door models. (X-ls get special sport cloth recliners.) Ail '85 Citations are hatch- backs (a two-door notch available last year is discontinued) in either two- or four-door con- figurations. Polymers Last Longer Than Waxes The secret to putting a great finish on the family car is not only the way the product is applied but the product itself. "This is particularly true with the new high technology polymer finishers," according to Bob Wagner and Guy MeKenna of Miracle Shield, whose central Whitby location uses a special polymer sealant that guarantees a high gloss protective finish without waxing for as long as the owner has his car. "The polymers last much longer than traditional waxes, but they're also much har- der to apply correctly," they say. Miracle Shield's unique polymer and silicone emulsion for- mula bonds to the car's paint - it actually becomes part of the paint itself - covering it' with a protective tran- sparent buffer against the scorching heat of summer and the frigid temperatures of winter. It also protects again- st corrosive splt and polluted air as well as against tree sap, road film, bugs and bird droppings. The bumper-to-bum- per shine takes one day. And because no two finishes are alike, each Miracle Shield ap- plication is tailored to meet the individual needs of each vehicle, including climate and environmental con- ditions. Just one application is all that's needed for ANNOUNCEMENT Don King's Texaco is now located at 414 Brock St. N., Whitby Phone 668-3644 lasting protection. Washing with soap and water is the onlymain- tenance involved. Dirt and grime rinse off easily, leaving nothing behind but the shine. "First of ail, the potential of polymer finishes can best be achieved through machine buffing," Wagner says, "Whoever does the buffing has to adjust the process to the nature of the original paint, its age and color. This allows us to guarantee both new and most used cars. "Even with traihed specialists, it takes three to four to do the job right. We begin with a thorough washing and cleaning, including the vinyl roofs, chrome and tires. We then com- pletely machine buff the exterior, leaving a clean, clear, smooth surface remofing minor surface scratches, paint blemishes and dead pigmentation in the paint. "Next," Wagner con- tinues, "we machine polish the first sealer coat into that, and then hand apply the second top coat sealer over that." "The first two ap- plications bond the polymer to the paint," McKerina adds, "and the third puts an extra cost of protection and glass on the car. We finish up with special dressings on the vinyl roof, tires and chrome." "Miracle Shield will never crack or peel," they caim.
