If, the peace movement is so weak why did a recent gallup poli show something like 80 per cent of Canadians favour nuclear freeze and an end to the arms race? Mr.- Coates rambles-on about 40 years of peace, as evidence of how armed deterrent works. What peace? -Viet Nam, South Africa, Iraq-Iran, Isreal-Lebanon, Ulster, El Salvador etc. etc. He (and others like him, ) rewrite history to prové that unpreparedness led to W.W.2.' Even a cabinet minister cannot revise history to suit himself, And those who do are trapped by their own folly. Don't I remember Mr. Mulroney during the cam- paign speaking about Canada's role as a diplomat and peace maker and endorsing the need for negotiated disarmament? My face really is very red. * TH E REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY DDD ~ OF DURHAM DURHAM NOTICE 0F PUBLIC MEETING, Take notice that the Reglonal Planning Committee wI Il consider at a meeting to be held on: JAN UARY 8,1985 AT 1 0:00 A.
