Board will meet with parents again, Brown says.. Fairman study to be completed this week The survey to deter- mine the future enrolment of E.A. Fairman, promised by the Durham Board of Education at the paren- ts meeting last month, is expected ta be com- pleted this week. According ta Whitby Trustee Ian Brown, the resulta will be analyzed by the superintendent of the area, Chuck Powers and board staff mem- tara. The results then go through a series of committee meetings, eventually ta be discussed by the board as a whale. Parents will also be invited ta pravide input in local meetings. Brown expects the parental meetings in March. The survey is the resuit of parent's con- cern that the English program will ta discon- tinued at E.A. Fairman because of declining enrolment. E.A. Fairman also conduets a French im- mersion course. Enrolment for the French immersion has increased its inception while enrolment in the English program has decreased ta the point that it was questionable whether the course would continue at E.A. Fairman. At the meeting in January, Brown assured parents that there is no plan ta, change the statua of the achool. Brown stili assures parents that the English program will ntta discontinued. The present enrolment for the kmn- dergarten English DOTC was ali a whirl last week program is 12 students. According ta Brown, at least 16 students are needed before the board can justify running the program. The board has also resumed grade 8 ta E.A. Fairman which was in the past run at Whitby Senior Public Sehool. The board is also prepared ta bring any surplus students in Whitby ta E.A. Fairman ta maintain enrolment levels.
