Director It was safe to say that the Whitby Iroquois Swim Club's Novice swimmers that attended the CÃ"BRA Invitational Novice Meet held in brampton over the weekend, were looking to bring home the medals. The girls 8 and under relay team, aiong with the boys 13 and over teamn dominated in the four relay events in which they participated. Great performances were turned in by al swimmers and saw some new Whitby Club records set. 8 and Under Girls: Suzanne Dainty: goid - 25 breast, 50 breast, bi-onze - 100 IM, 6th - 25 back. Vince Tripp, Mike Dainty, Chris Carson, Jason Rushton: gold - 100 FrR, 200 MR. Whitby, wins ow-n tourney Whitby played host to the Regional "C' Division Tournament, Feb. 22 to 24. A total of 26 teams> from the Durham region were en- tered, in the Petite. to Belle Divisions (ages 8 tol16). Towns represented were Beaverton, Sun- derland, Mariposa, Port Perry, Ajax, Pickering, Woodville, Warkworth, Oshawa and Whitby. The Whitby teams were victorious in all divisions, sweeping the tournament champion- ships. The Speedy Muffler junior belle team now advances to the regional "1B" division tour- nament, which will be held in Sunderland, March 7 to 10. As well, the Colour Your World petite team is entered. In house league ac- tion, Bunny Division, Kiwanis defeated Wtty Real Estate by a score Stephanie Nichols (3), Pauline Lang (3), Lean- ne Mosley and Julie Rowland. In petite action, Colour Your World beat Lions 9 to 1 on goals by Laura Weckman (5), Linda Bell (2), Erin Neilly and Kim Guymer. And finally, in junior fier downed Optimists 5 to 3 on goals by Leanne Ellis (3), Tammy Bates (2). Responding for Op- timists were: Paula Barrack (2) and Angie Beer. Dîrector A weil prepared Whit- by Iroquois Swim Club travelled to Thunder Bay, Ont. for the provincial "AA" cham- pionships held Feb. 22 to 24. Coach Tom McLoughlin led his teamn to a superb seven- th place finish which was rnade possible by a great team effort in al age groups. Scott Currie led the 10 and under boys with two golds and a silver while Wendy Primeau took a gold for the 11-12 girls. A great performance was shown by Heather Armitage who took two goids, a silver and a bronze. The girls 11-12 relay teams also managed to capture a gold and a bronze. A well rounded per- formance by ail made such a high piacing in the championships possible and ail who participated should be congratulated. 10 and Under Girls: Colleen Leswick: silver - 100 breast, 200 breast, sth - 400 free, 100 back, 200 back.
