WHITBY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE Whitby Women's Institute met on Wednesday, March 27 at the home of Amelia Pringle, 307 Dunlop St.iE in Whitby with il members answering the roli cali 'How to Hold a Family Together'. The president, Mrs. Hepburn, welcomed the memnbers and one visitor, Eiieen Polley, who resides in what is believed to be the oldest home now standing in Whitby. The institute has been preparing a house law (historical research on this home). Correspondence consisted of a letter from Honeydale Women's Institute, regarding their 5th anniversary on May 6, 1985. A letter from Mary Miller announcing group visiting days at the Erland Lee home June 4, 5 and 6. Mrs. A. Campbell reported on the district executive meeting held March 11. Plans for the district annual meeting to be held in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Whitby on May 23 were discussed. Due to the illness of the convenor of Consumers and Family Affairs, a change in the programn was necessary. Mrs. Josephine Smith led in a discussion of current events and gave the members a glimpse of the past from Minute Books dating back to the 1920's, 40's and 60's. Following the meeting a shamrock contest supplied by Mrs. Hepburn, was .won by Mrs. Smith. The branch annual meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. G. Carr, 309 Dunlop St. E., on April 24 at 1: 30 p.m. Members were reminded to have their convenor reports ready to present at this meeting.
