She is classed as one of Ontario's top Folk Ar- tist. Her work is excep- tional in both it's beauty and it's magnitude. Her carefully excuted designs adorn and ex- pensive selection of well constructed pieces and her work though traditional is always imnaginative and original. Many long hours are spent these pass months in making ready for her to exhibit in the Whitby Festival of Crafts and Weavers Show, that will take place at Iroquois Park Arena, 500 Victora St. W. in Whitby on May 3, 4, and 5. Two other Whitby artisit will be among the 130 exhibitors who will display their art work. They are Suzanne Nadeau who has been working in the art of stained glass for many years. Show hours are-May 3 from 6 to 10 p.m., May 4 from 10 arn. to 5 p.m. and May 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $1 children under 12 years admitted free. Refreshments are available and there is lots of free parking. are quite unique and make her one of the more popular stained glass artist at this show. A new face at this show will be Ann Marie Colven who's art is designing silk floral arrangements. Her talent's will be ex- pressed in many of her adorn flower arrangements. That will give any home that ad- ded touch. There are many of Whitby's talented artist taking part in this event. To mention a few such as Nancy Stell, well known for her unique brass jewellery; and, Margaret Madsen, silk pain ter, who has many beautiful one of a kind silk tops and matching evening purses, as well as Susan Parkinson with a great selection of tod- diers items. This show is one of the largest craft shows in Ontario, and brings a selection of top crafts people for your viewing. Weaving will be the feature attraction at this years show with the Shuttle Bug Weavers Guild demonstrating the technique of weaving. There will also be a showing of woven fashions at 3 p.m. each day. Other demonstrations such as dough art, 25th anniversary of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For this anniversary year, the CF Foundation is fortunate to have Mila Mulroney, wife of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, as its honorary chairperson. On the local scene, the Durham Chapter will be active during May, Cystic Fibrosis month, in various fund-raising activities. These ac- tivities include a tag day in the Oshawa area and a door-to-door cam- paign in the Whitby area on Saturday, May 25. Bargain prices for the day are: children (age il and under), $6; men, $7.50; and ladies, $15. The prices include wash, eut and finish. In addition, there will be draws and refreshments throughout the day compliments of the Bay. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease second only to cancer in taking the lives of Canadian children. Life expectan- cy of CF patients is to the point where, today, 28 per cent of Canadians with Cystic Fibrosis are over the age of 18. While this gives rise to op- timism, it does not erase the fact that the median life expectancy is only age 23. Sidewalk contract let Whitby Town Council has awarded a sidewalk construction contract to an Agincourt, Ont. firm. At its meeting last week, council approved. awarding the tender to D & R Ventura in the amount of $58,426.25. The sidewalks to be constructed will be located on the north side of Dunlop St. (from Lupin Dr. to Dovedale Dr.), Hillcrest Dr., the north side of Trent St. (from Byron St. to Cen- tre St.), and on the south side of Clemence St. (from Brock St. to Green St.).
