Mr. Arbour, his choir, his orchestra, and his solists have been prac- ticing since the faîl for Spring Melody, 1985. On Tuesday, they per- formed for the grade 8's of the various feeder sehools. on Wednesday, they displayed their talents again for the staff and the students of DO'C. Thursday night was the performance for parents, relatives and friends. It began at 8 p.m. and featured such selections as "Who Will Buy?", *Climb Every Mountain", "l'in Going to Go Back There Some Day", music from "The Jazz Singer", "The Sound of Music", and "Jesus Christ, Super- star", Congratulations to Mr. Arbour and to the talented musicians who participated in Spring Melody. The tennis club, under the direction of Ms. Robertson, has started its spring season. The club will meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school. Are there any Bjorn Borgs or Chris Evert Loyds out there? The girls' soccer team has been kept busy as well. On Monday, the girls met the team f rom Ajax HighýSchool and battled to a 2-2 tie. Goals were scored by Teresa Meulensteen and Rachel VandenBoom. A great save late in the game by Kelly Sowden prevented the Ajax team from taking the lead. in line with "Respect for Lite Week", the chaplaincy teamn at DO'C has organized a collection of baby ar- ticles for the orphanage, Canada House, in Korea. The orphanage is in desperate need of help as they are trying to accommodate 1,200 youngsters in one building. Show them your support by donating any mittens, clothes, toys, baby needs you may have left over from your childhood. As the end of the year draws nearer, students are reminded that exam schedules have been posted and that it is time to start preparing! Vow not to do any cramming this year! Children1 with asthma can now go to summer c amp Registration for this summer's Christmas Seal Day Camp for asthmatic children 15 now under way, with 25 available vacancies for children aged between 5 and 9 at the Camp Samac facility. Funded by the Durham Region Lung Association,- the camp will operate between Monday, July 15 and Friday, July 26 (week- days onlyl and prior registration is essential. Asthmatic children frequently -miss out on summer fun because of their breathing dit- ficulties, and the main objective ot the Christ- mas Seal Day Camp is. to demonstrate that, with only a littie extra care, they can par- ticipate in regular summer activities as fully as their non- asthmatic friends. AIl the usual activities associated with cam- ping will be offered un- der the supervision of five protessional camp staff, including a registered nurse;, cookouts, nature trails, water sports, country crafts and a sleep-over night on Thursday, JuIy 25 are aIl featured in the Camp experience. Door-to-door bus transportation is available for children resident in Oshawa and Whitby. Registration fees for the two week period have been set at $40 per child (which includes transportation), and for families for with more than one child atten- ding, ,this rate is reduced to $20 for the second child. In view of the current high unemployment in Durham, the association is prepared to reduce or eliminate fees in individual cases of financial hardship.
