Dodge Aries for 1985 features fresh, new con- temporary styling. One of Canada's most popular cars, the com- pact Dodge Aries has a softer, more aerodynamic ap- pearance front and rear. The restyled 1985 Dodge Aries continues to offer front-wheel- drive efficiency and four-cylinder fuel economy in three at- tractive body styles, all designed to accom- modate as many as six passengers in degrees of comfort and roominess usually found only in larger cars. The 1985 Dodge Aries model lineup includes the high- styled Ariles Two-Door Sedan, the roomy Aries Four-Door Sedan, and the versatile Dodge Aries Four-Door Station Wagon. Dodge Aries two- and four-door sedans are available in three price classes for 1985 -- base Aries, medium-line Aries SE, and a highline LE series. Aries station wagons are available in SE highline and LE premium price classes. All three 1985 Dodge Aries models are metric-built on a 2548 mm (100.3 inch) wheelbase. Dodge Aries two- and four-door sedans have an overall lenght of 4536 mm (178.6 inches) and station wagons, 4537 mm (179.0 inches). Dodge Aries' restyled front end features a bold, new grille design incorporating the Chrysler . Pentastar at its centre, new European-style black headlamp bezels, plastic halogen headlamps with integral park/turn flashing side marker lights, and a new, soft bumper fascia with integral black rub strip and bright accents. Dodge Aries sedans have redesigned rear decklids and new tail lamps. All models have new black body side moldings which in- tegrate in design and function with the new front and rear bumper rub strips. Base Dodge Aries two-door sedans feature bright quarter window trim. Aries SE and LE two-door models have black, modular quarter window trim. Standard engine in the 1985 Dodge Aries is Chrysler's proven 2.2 litre, four-cylinder engine. A four-speed manual transaxle or three-speed automatic transaxle are optionally available. A 2.2 L EFI (electronic fuel injec- ted) engine with automatic transmission will be offered at a later date on the high and premium price classes. A 2.6 litre, four- cylinder engine built for Chrysler by Mitsubishi and equipped with an automatic transmission and extended-life exhaust system is also optionally available. In addition to exten- sive exterior styling ::hanges, the 1985 Dodge Aries offers revised in- terior configurations, with a new soft in- strument panel top cover, new door trim panels with front door map pockets, new heater and air con- ditioner controls, and other fresh styling touches. Models with manual transaxles are equipped with a new "Shift In- dicator Light." This device signals the driver when optimal engine speed has been reached for the most fuel-efficient gear shif- ting. Available on all models except base Aries are cloth- upholstered bucket seats with single-side recliners. These seats, available on models equipped with five- speed manual or three- speed automatic tran- saxies, include a full- length front console styled into the in- strument panel. This new console in- cludes a cubby box, ash receiver, removable cup holder, spring- loaded coin holder, storage bin and removable cassette tape storage bin with the op- tional AM/FM stereo/cassette ETR radio. The 1985 Dodge Aries comes with a standard electronically tuned AM radio with integral digital clock. An AM stereo and FM stereo radio with prenium cassette is also available. Standard equipment on all 1985 Dodge Aries models includes precise rack - and - pinion steering, soft colour- keyed bumpers with standard rub strips, full- length body side mouldings, power front disc brakes, self- adjusting rear drum brakes, and a tethered fuel filler cap. Dodge Aries two- and four-door sedans offer approximately 424 L (15 cubic feet) of trunk luggage space. The Aries Station Wagon provides 1917L (67.7 cubic feet) when the rear seat is folded down. A cargo area tonneau cover is standard on Aries LE wagons. A heavy-duty suspen- sion package with higher rate springs and gas-charged front struts and shock absorbers is available on all 1985 Dodge Aries models. New for all models ex- cept the base Aries are optional P185/70 R14 narrow - white - sidewall tires. New Aries options in- clude "precision feel" switches for power win- dows and door locks, cloth or vinyl centre armrest bench seats, a redesigned roof luggage rack with tiedown loops on wagons, and new aluminum road wheels (not available on base Aries). Dual, remote control rear view mirrors are available on Aries sedans and highline station wagons, and are standard on the premium wagon. Hyundai Stellar Hyundai Auto Canada Inc. is officially previewing the Stellar to Canada at the 1985 auto shows, starting with the Montreal Auto Salon January 16, 1985. The Stellar, Hyun- dai's second entry into the Canadian automobile market is available in two model designates, SL and GSL. Both are four-door com- pact sedans, powered by a 1600 cc, four-cylinder OHC engine, mated to either a five-speed syn- chromesh manual tran- smission or an optional three-speed automatic. Styled by Giugiaro, the famous Italian automobile designer, Stellar has been designed to give it maximum aerodynamic advantage while main- taining chassis elegan- ce. The flowing wedge- shaped front with its fluid lines and smooth contours reflects the most modern of aerodynamic con- siderations. Already a success at home in Korea and many other export markets around the world, Stellar has been modified specifically for the Canadian market. Standard features on all models include power-assisted brakes, electric rear window defroster, front/side window demisters, child-proof door locks, child seat anchorage, resettable trip odometer, bi-level heater with 4-speed blower, cut-pile car- peting, ignition key reminder chime, rear seat heater ducts and special anti-corrosion paint treatment. The body styling, comfortable appointed luxurious interior and other thoughtfully designed features direc- ted at comfort and safety reflect the Com- pany's aim to satisfy sophisticated demands for discerning customers. Stellar is fuelled ef- ficiently using regular gasoline. Fuel consum- ption estimate for SL and GSL models are: five-speed manual transmission: 6.1 litres/100 km (46.3 mpg) hwy and 9.8 litres/100 km (28.8 mpg) city, for a combined rating for 7.6 litres/100 km (37.2 mpg). Three-speed automatic: 6.9 litres/100 km (40.9 mpg) hwy, and 9.9 litres/100 km (28.5 mpg) city, for a com- bined rating of 8.0 litres/100 km (35.3 mpg).
