"lWe can't give up on our values, but we've got to move ahead if we're going to stay in power,#9 said one delegate nominee. The remark proved charac- teristic of the speeches tbroughout the evening. "While we are not fair weather conser- vatives," "it's obvious that we would like to be back on the governing side of the bouse," were some of the comments from other delegate contenders. The conservatives' sudden faîl from power in Ontario led several of the riding mnembers to comment on the need for a candidate with broad-based appeal -- both inside and outside the party. "We have to have a candidate that we can convince the rest of the municipality to support," said delegate Julia Hoare. The delegates chosen at the meeting include: Frank Snyder (YPC maie rep); Anita Snyder (YPC female rep) - Jean Polak, Joy Grant, Julie Hoare, Georgina Phillips (PC female rep); and Jerry Moskaluk (riding presîdent), Henry Polak, Rene Soetens, and Ed Buffett (PC maie rep). Over 100 riding mem- bers were present for the election, The PC convention wiil be held October in Toronto. The cost for a delegate to attend the convention is ap- proximately $300.
