(NC) - The Chevrolet Nova hasn't been on the market long enough to expect there would be anything new for 1986 - but there is. A four-door hatchback is joining the Nova lineup as it comes to Canada in the Spring of 1986. Nova was introduced in June in 25 middle-U.S. states in its five passenger, four- door notchback sedan dress. An extra door in the back turned the lively sedan into a handy hatch. With the rear seats folded down, the hatclhback pro- vides a generous one cubic netre (35.5 cubic feet) of car- go space. Split-folding rear seats allow Nova to carry three passengers and sub- stantial cargo at the sanie time. Nova is manufactured for Chevrolet by New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., the joint venture company was formed by General Mo- tors and Toyota, at Fremont, California. A higher-output engine, due to revised head configu- ration, develops an ad- ditional four horsepower in 1986, giving Nova 74 hp @ 5200 rpm and torque of 86 lb./ft @ 2800 rpm. Zero to 80 km/h (50 mph) accelerý ation is 9.3 seconds with the five-speed manual. The four-door hatchback is not all that is new about Celebrity It's obvious that an appeal- ing change lias taken place on Celebrity, one of North America's favorite mid-size models. A completely new front end appearance is the first major styling change since the front-wheel drive debuted as an '82. Rear-end and side styling changes add to the smoother lines. Ex- haust systems modified to improve noise isolation. Three-passenger front seats standard on all body styles. Wider trim levels on Euro- sport. New sport wheel covers. Caprice Classic Two new nameplates - Cap- rice and Brougham - join the lineup in '86. Caprice re- places Impala as the value leader in the full-sized car line. Brougham includes a full vinyl roof and is de- signed for those who want a bit more luxury in their fa- vorite full-size. New front styling for all models and new rear styling for sedans and coupes. Power window and seat controls relocated on top of new front door armrest extensions for con- venience. Camaro North America's favorite sport coupe becomes sportier in '86 as the lowest-priced Camaro takes on a Z28 snarl. Sport Coupe with either of the optional powerplants - gets some of the equipment that makes Z28 a Z28. Sport Coupe gets sport suspension, 15-inch styled wheels, a per- formance axle ratio and throaty sport tone exhaust. Exterior appearance on other models virtually unchanged. Z28 standard performance tire redesigned to reduce roll- ing resistance. Z28 and IROC-Z28s with manual transmissions get a new up- shift light. New cut-out switch on the air conditioner prevents stalling in full power turning situation. the '86 Nova. Nova's wheelbase of 2430 mm (95.7 inches) is 25 mm (one inch) longer than Chev- rolet's Spectrum and 152 mm (six inches) shorter than Ca- - valier.
