Politicians, one and all, watch out! Denis O'Connor's grade 10's are out to take your seats from under you and they are willing to go to Ontario's capital to doit! Last week Mr. Novak's and Mr. Joe Stafford's grade 10 history classes visited Queen's Park in Toron- to. As they are in- terested in being the future leaders of our country, they listened to the banter during question period and par- ticipated in a tour of the parliament buildings. Where to next, you might ask? There is only one place left - Ot- tawa! Careers Day is being held Thursday, Nov. 14. Over 30 diverse workshops are being of- fered through the day by experts from various fields, including ar- chitecture, engineering, journalism, profes- sional photography and more. We are all looking forward to this infor- mative day and a special thanks to the Guidance Department for organizing it. Attention all senior students at DO'C! Graduation portraits will be taken in the im- mediate future. Now is the time to adopt a new style - in a graduation cap and gown. The photos are scheduled to be shot Nov. 10 so be ready to portray the image of the student ready to take over the world - after high school! The Yearbook Club is busy preparing for its first deadline of 40 pages which are to be sent to the publisher. Students and staff have been receiving sneak previews of this year's yearbook because of a display case which has taken a prominent position in the school lobby. On Nov. 1 four mem- bers of the yearbook club attended a workshop at Dunbarton High School. The session enabled the 25 members of the club to generate new and ex- citing ideas. Recently, our senior boys volleyball team competed in LOSSA at Anderson Collegiate. The guys lost in the semi-finals to Courtice High School. The junior boys volleyball team placed fifth after losing four out of six sets at LOSSA. Now that the first few boys teams at DO'C have completed their seasons, basket- ball has begun. Practice and tryouts commenced last week and all the midget and junior boys are welcome to go for the teams. it may seem a bit early to remind you, but there are only 43 more shopping days until Christmas. EUCHRE The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 112 will be dealing euchre on Thur- sday, Nov. 21 at 117 Byron St. S. Donna, a graduate returning to grade 13 this year FASHIONABLE ART SHOW A special pre- Christmas designer fashion and art show is scheduled at the Mill Hollow Gallery and Studio from Friday, Nov. 8 to the 23. The show wiii be kicked off by a special invitations- only fashion show on Nov. 8. Local artists will be featured throughout the show, including received the well- earned Marketing and Motivation award at graduation. Donna's past accomplishments with other clubs in the school indicate that on- ce again the Public Relations Committee will be a success. water-colorist Shiela Dantzer and Georgia Young, the gallerys resident artist. Wild life photographer Fred Doner will add a touch of the exotic with his most recent work taken during field trips to Iceland and Kenya. NATURALISTS MEETING Durham Region Field Naturalists will meet Monday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of McLaughlin Library, 65 Bagot St., Oshawa. The speaker for the evening will be Bruno Kern who will present a slide-talk about his nature photography.
