Peter Perry award night next month On Jan. 17, the Whitby Chamber of Commerce will be presenting the 1986 Peter Perry Award and the chamber is now accepting nominations for the award which will honour an individual who has made an out- standing contribution as a volunteer in Whitby. Nomination forms for this year's Peter Perry Award are available in the local banks and have also been mailed out to many of the town's ser- vice organizations. The primary criterian for the Peter Perry Award is that the nominee must beta "giving" person. The nominee might be a volunteer who has ser- ved for many organizations and causes over the years or an individual who has served one organization in an extraordinary way. Infact, the award is not necessarily presented to individuals and a family or couple who have supported one another in their volun- teer efforts might also be considered. The festivities for the 1986 Peter Perry Award will take place at the Whitby Centennial Building and tickets for the variety show and reception will be $5 each. Fittingly, the variety show will feature volunteer local talent under the direc- tion of Bert Heaver, himself a former Peter Perry winner. There are only 150 tickets for the evening and they will be going on sale early in the New Year. Organizers suggest that the Peter Perry Award night is a great opportunity for people who are new to Whitby to come out an- Whitby to come out and get to know some of the people who have played an important role in contributing to the life of the community.
