Whitby Senior girls clean-up at region Whitby Senior's In- termediate Girl 's volleyball team con- cluded a successful season by winning both the Durham Elemen- tary Major Sehools and Durham Elementary Regional Champion- ships last week. At the regional cham- pionships held Friday, Dec. 13 at Whitby Senior, the Whitby squad defeated Thorah Central Public School in the semi-finals and Sun- set Heights in the finals 15-2, 15-3. This is the fourth con- secutive year Whitby Senior has won the overall titie. The girls bad an exceptional year winning seven tour- naments and finishing second in another. Although the com- petitive season began in late October the nine girl squad began prac- ticing in May and con- tinued through until December with only a two month break in the summer. Six team members will graduate this spring and move on to either Anderson or Henry Street High Schools. Success in 1985 was a direct result of hard work, discipline and dedication to the sport.
