WHITBY FREE1 Rousseau's Heritage House has ideas to suit your every inclination Wandering thraugh. Rousseau's Heritage 1House, one feels as though ane is entering an eclectic and char- ming home. The Whitby furniture store is divided into a multitude of raoms - each decarated strikingiy dif- ferent fram the next. There's a living room in soft peach and pastel uphoistery, a dining roomn with a gilded oriental screen and a table set with lace placemats and brass champagne goblets. In a cottage room up- stairs, light streams through a bay window anto a suxnmery wicker table. As one leaves the sunroom, one finds aneself in a com- puterized home office wlth classic law firm decor - modermzed ta accommodate hanging file foiders and a per- sonal computer. "We have a wide variety of product lines," says Peggy Polson, manager of the Mary St. furniture store and daughter of store owner Marcella Poison. "Everything from a country look ta Queen Anne's styling in cherry wood, ta a little bit of contemporary and ratan."1 Rousseau's speciali- zes- In uphalstered f ur- nture - true ta the shop's origins in 1929 as an upholstery business, begun by Marcella Polson's father Louis Rousseau. Each wing- backed chair or divan displayed in the shap is accoinpanied by a book- ful of colon swatches whlch can be used ta caver the piece. If none of these appeais,, Rousseau's has an en- tire room of designer fabrics shipped drectly fnom textile milîs, for custom-uphoistery, win- dow treatment or wall hangings. While Peggy PoIson acknowledges her preference of colorful, exciting fabrics that give classic furniture a cantemporary feel, she buys only traditional, quality furniture that "wan't date itseif" in ten years. As such furniture - much of which is stli hand-stitched and stained - doesn't came cheap, Poison stressed the investment aspect of furniture buying. While there's nathing dawdy or "safe" about the fur- niture she carnies, she actively discaurages customers from buying 'trendy lines" that may not weather the vagaries of fashian. One doesn't have ta, have thausands of dollars tucked away in one's pocket ta feel cam- fortable setting foot in the funniture store. Housseau's caters ta al kinds of decorating needs - whether as sim- ple as the purchase of a siik flower or an end table or as involved as the remodelling of an entire house. If the right accent piece ta complete a room isn't avallabie in the store itself, the designers can probably track it down in one of the many wholesale show noonîs with which the store deals. Short on ideas about what ta do with that aging sofa or how ta re- do that guest room? A visit to Rousseau's on Mary St. may be just what's needed ta stir up those aesthetic faculties. PRESS. In their worship they recognlzed that Jesus is the Son of God and the -supremely worthly King. And now after ail of the celebration of the Christmas season dies away, this is the impression that must linger in aur lives. At Christmas time the highly sentimental taik and songs about the baby Jesus can be an attempt to escape the great significance of Christ's Kingship. 0f course, it is entirely proper ta pause and be amazed as we observe the Christ chiid. But ta con- tinue at the manger indefiniteiy, and to continue to think of Jesus as a baby indefiniteiy, will crippie aur spiritual lives. Therefore in Philippians 2 we find the apostie Paul passing immediateiy fromn the humiliation of Christ expressed in His birth ta a reminder that thraugh the birth of Christ the way was open for the pRINTING AND *ýlrý Pi I- SAIED * TO E S! full revelation of Christ's Kingship over ail. Paul deciares, "Therefore God exalted Him ta the highest place and gave Hlm the narne that is above every name, that at the name af Jesus every knee should bow.. and every tangue confess that Jesus is Lord!" This means that we must came away fram last month's celebration of Christ's birth witli the certain knowiedge that someme is ruiing aur lives. Our King has been born. And He has been reveaied in great perfection. Sadly, aur day-by-day experience is a constant record of avaiding His dlaims upon us. Often we continue ta establish aur own advantage, cherish aur own favorite lusts, and generaliy waste aur lives in meaningless activity. This must end!1 For there will came a time when every knee wili bow ta Jesus Christ! The Bible tells us that is so. The difference, however, wili be that some wili baw as conquered enemies.
