The first place Perkins Paints Trophy went to the Towns rink from Port Perry. Hi'gh1 By LAURA SOLETO Anderson Colegiate Welcome back, fellow Andersonians 1 It is with sad regret that we begin this new year with the absence of our well- loved Mr. Blackmore as he passed away quite suddenly over the holiday season. As men- tioned in a brief eulogy by a dear friend, Doctor Warne, Mr. Blackmore hated long speeches and would have wanted us to carry on happily with Our lives. Having chit-chatted with many friends and acquaintances I discovered that these holidays were of a memorable quality. Whether one went skiing, skating, tobagganing or just visiting relatives, one encountered plenty of white powdery snow and cold weather: we can again boast of a beautiful white Christ. mas. A handful of our fellow school chumns chose to gallivant off to the more southern Crewing for Mrs. McArthur were Pat Gibson, vice, Marilyn Wood, second and Mary Parks, lead. The third place Mc- Teague Electric Trophy was won by another Whitby rink skipped by Heather Miller. Also on the crew were Mary Lynn McKay, Helen Collins, Val Elmnjurst and Carnle Spellen. On Jan. il Whitby curlers competed in the V.G. National Trust Mixed Bonspiel. The winner in that event was the Murray Moynes rink with Barb Jervis, vice, Jim Brown, second and Carol Brown lead. The Jim Shaw rink was first runner-up and the Ron Cameron rink was second runner-up. School news regions of this earth. These people are recognized early as they silently (some not so silently) flaunt their newly acquired tans. The fashion show "tryouts"~ for Ander. son's annual fashion show began before the holidays. Finalists have now been chosen and plans are in process for the fashion extravagan- za scheduled for early March. Our own Wen- deil Ross will be showing his own designs modelled by specially hand-picked runway beauties. The 1986 Driver's Education program commences on the week of Feb. 10. Registration forms must be in by Jan. 24. The cost per person is $137 - this in- cludes classroom training and in-car lessons. Now the Andersonians face the January and February blahs months, the unbearably cold weather, endless days until March break, and exams! 1 They go hand- in-hand. Being somewhate ex- perienced with exam writing, I have taught myself to come to terms with this task. I always remind myseif that each exam takes a measly 1l1/ to 3 hours to write and then 1 am done with that course for a long period of time. Contrary to popular belief, teachers are not setting the exams to fail studen- ts. Exams are tolerable if one remembers that when they end, a brand new semester starts: new classrooms, new teachers, new classmates, and ex- citing new experiences. Good luck in '86 and Happy New Year An. dersonians! CORRECTION Last week in a photo marking the grand opening of Shear Delite hair salon we incorrec- tly identified Jackie Ward and Corey Evans as the business's co- owners. The co-owners of Shear Delite are Jackie Ward and Helen Peebles.
