The ECAC award followed a strong per- formance in two back- to-back games two weekends ago. In the firat game against St. Lawrence, Joe scored a short handed goal in the third period, and racked Up four assists. The next day, against Clarkson, he scored two goals, in- cluding the game win- ner, helping his team to a 4-2 victory. In the Clarkson game, Corneil wound Up ofl top 7-4. Nieuwendyk's offen- sive performance has pushed him into second place in the Cornel tearn scoring race with 32 points. He is also ranked among the top scorers in the national college stats. He is currently leadllng his team in short handed goals and power play goals with 2 and 8 respectively. Last year, Joe was ECAC and Ivy* League Rookie of the year and was a second round draft pick for the Calgary lames.
