The meeting is an oppor- tunity to meet and share information with family members, care givers, professionals and others concerned with alzheimer disease. The film, Someone 1 Once Knew will also be shown. The meeting will be held at Marnwood Nur- sing Homne, 26 Elgin St. in Bowmanville begin- ning at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. DIABETESE MEETING TeDurham branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association will meet Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Holy Family Parish Hall in Whitby. At the meeting there ". I be a panel discussion with a num- ber of medical professionals who will entertain questions from the floor. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the hall which is located at the corner of Manning and Ribblesdale Dr. PMS INFORMATION NIGHT There will be a PMS information night April 2 at the Michael Starr Building, 33 King St. W. in Oshawa. Dr. James Henderson, Mississauga PMS C1inic head, will be the guest speaker. Admission is free but organizers are asking a minimum donation of $1 per person, proceeds to go the Auberge shelter. There is seating for 150 people available on a first corne first serve basis and there will be a door prize - a $25 gift certificate from El Stavro's. PRECISION SKATING COMPETITION On Saturday, March 1 the Whitby Figure Skating Club will host the 6th annual Inter- national Precision Skating Competitions at Iroquois Park. There will be 41 teams from Ontario and the United States com- peting in pre-novice, novice, junior, senior and masters' levels with the major teain skating events beginning at 1:30 p. m. The final skate-offs are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. and the awards presentation is expected to begin around 9 p.m. Whitby's novice and junior teams are the current Canadian champions and they wil be competing early in the day to earn a place in this year's Canadian championships in Van- couver March 27 through 30. Precision skating is very popular in the Whitby area and a large turnout is anticipated s0 corne out and cheer our local skaters. LA LECHE MEETING The La Leche League -a nursing mothers support group - wili meet Wednesday, Mar- ch 5-at 7 p.m. The topic of the meeting will be Overcoming Difficulties and babies are welcome. ITC SPEECH CONTEST ITC, International Training in Com- munication, first Oshawa and Whitby club wiil hold their an- nual speech contest Monday, March 3 at My Sister's Place Restaurant in Oshawa.
