Bih Oyagi, the new president, is hopeful he can encourage the kind of co-operation that will get members of the society working together again. "My ancestry is not English, and it's not French. I wasn't raised in Whitby, so I don't have an axe to grind. "But I am in- terested." One of the first things Oyagi promised to do as president was improve communications. True to bis word he immediately set up a portable microphone system, wbich he used for the remainder of the meeting. Oyagi said the society needs a feasibility study on Lynde House and needs to do some fun- draising. "We bave, to work bard for the future so that Whitby Historical Society does not become a tbing of the past," bhe said. Also elected to the executive were Ei Glenholmes, a former director, as first vice- president; Rod Angevaare, president of ACO, as second vice- president; Linda Stahlbaurn 1as secretary; and. John Buchanan, a trustee with the Durham Board of Education, as treasurer.
