In the seven years since President Broker Lorne Kime and Manager Bruce Op- ferkuch opened up 600 square feet of office space complete with asales staff of two - Lorne and Bruce - the company has grown at a rate that - defies com- parnsons. From its modest beginnings on Brock St. N., Gold Jacket Realty has grown to employ a staff of 32 sales people and In March of 1985 the company moved in- to its new Brock St. quarters just north of the four cor- ners. The partners spent close to $50,000 on a complete make-over of the new location and when they were finished they had 4,000 square feet of bright, attrac- tive offices, reception area and private conference rooms where clients can meet with sales personnel without distraction. At the end of 1985, Gold Jacket Realty was ranked 35th among Century 21's more than 300 offices nation-wide and the ex- planation, according to Mr. Kime, is simple. "We're Just situated in a town that's really growing. Whitby wants to grow and it's geared to growth. That's one explanation for why the market's so great. I think Mayor Bob Attersley has probably been a big factor. He's really promoted the town," said Mr. Kime. The new location, in the heart of the downtown, has done a lot to raise Gold Jacket's visibility in the community and the listings have been pouring in in ever- Increasing numbers. But even as those numbers escalate it's still hard to keep pace with the demand, according to Mr. Kime. "Listings are hard to keep. It seems like once you get them they're gone. It's hard to keep stock on the shelf," cornplained the president. It is a problem many realtors would give their eye teeth to acquire. In an effort to try and keep up with the demand, Gold Jacket Realty has launched an active cam- paign to recruit at least eight more sales staff but only the 'most aggressive and deter- mined of sales people need apply. "You have to be really am- bitious and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and persistence," said Mr. Kime. w à yudie ave you driven îv a Fo ru latel 4 For More Detail
