"Firat it prevants the exterlor of the house from balng changed without councils ap- proval," ha said. Ini case any minor changes are required, LACAC could suggest methods by which the character of the house would remain intact, said Mr. Bryce. "And secondly it prevents a stay of execution fromn demnolition, " he said. Mr. Bryce explained the Town cf Whtby has a six znonth grace period frrno the time an application is f iled for demnolitien cf the house, ailowing the town to find Brooklin Cycle joins Meals on Wheels A local business has issued a challenge to Oshawa and Whitby businesses, to lend a hand - or a driver - to the meals on wheels program in Oshawa. Brooklin Cycle will donate one staff mem- ber a week to deliver meals te senior citizens In Oshawa. While a spokesman at Fairview Lodge said the meals on wheels program in Whîtby la net in need of drivers, the Oshawa prograrno l suffering frono a serious shortage cf volunteers. The prograrn in Oshawa, which usually requires 25 drivers, is currently operating with only 10, said Mary Perry, the co-ordinator of the meals on wheels program there. «'One cf Our bookkeepers read about the need for drivers and asked me if I would do this and I said sure," said Cobey Black, sales manager for Brooklin Cycle. "So if we can do i, why can't other cern- panies."t The employees of Brooklln Cycle will retate each Wednesday taking turns delivering the meals. Expressing concern that the business corn- mnity was flot always quick te coma to the aid of the volunteer sector, Black said she hoped Brooklin Cycle's board and batten, the house was bricked over in 1906. However the board and battan wara revealad two yaars ago whan the bricks on the aast wall had te be raplaced.
