Elghteen professional golfers along with 54 amateurs will take to the golf course for the one day event. Already over 40 amateurs have registered for the tour- nament, and with only 54 amateurs being ex- cepted, the remaining openings are expedted to disappear quickly, according to course professional, Les Diggins. Professionals par- ticipating in the tour- nament include George Knudson who now runs his own golf school at Buttonville .Fairways, Leon DeCaire an ex- mernber of the P.G.A. tour, Graham Gunn one of Ontario's best golfers and Mo Norman. "What Mo hasn't done isn't worth doing," said Mr. Diggins. . While he has neyer won the Canadian open,, Mo Norman has' won everything aIse in Canada including provincial opens and national champion- ships. He has also won six tournaments in the Florida section of the P.G.A. The pro-arn will use a scrambie format ex- plained Mr. Diggins. This involves a teamn, one professional and three amateurs, each hitting a tee shot. Each team member will then take their next shot from were the beat of the four tee shots ian- ded. "This way everyone gets involved whether thay have a low or high handicap," said Mr. Diggins. There will also be a closest to the hole con- test on six of the.par three holes.
