WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY. JUNF Il. 1986 PAGE 35 Protect your investment - Interior care enhances value Buying a car is a big expenditure that can take from three to ..0 five years to pay off, yet many people fail to protect their investment with proper care. Most often neglected - particularly during cold winter months - is the car's interior. By following certain protective measures for the inside of your car, you can keep it looking new. Ziebart, a pioneer and international leader in auto appearance and protection services, offers some professional advice on interior car care: • Power vacuum your car's interior, getting not only at the parts that show, but those that don't. This includes corners, and under seats. Remember ... power vacuuming cleans even the ground-in dirt that leads to wear spots, especially in seats and carpeting. • After power vacuuming, chemically shampoo your car's interior to restore the fabric texture and appearance. Shampoo made especially for car interiors, of course, does the best job of cleaning. • Apply a fabric protector, preferably with an atomizer. This will improve the wearability of the fabric without changing the appearance, feel or texture of your car's cloth, upholstery or carpet. The right kind of fabric protector provides protection against all spills and stains, even oil and grease. Also. the proper type of fabric protector does not decrease the fire resistance of fabrics, an important safety consideration. Don't overlook dashboards, door panels and steering wheels in the cleaning and protection process. • Remember that interior glass should be thoroughly cleaned and polished for better visibility and defrosting. • Lubricate vents and sunroofs to ensure good seals. • Even your trunk should be power vacuumed and brush- cleaned in preparation for winter. Be certain all of your cold weather items are handy. Jack assemblies should be cleaned to be certain they are in working order. • Interior car care should include degreasing the complete engine block. PONTIAC BUICK LTD. "GM SELECT SERVICE DEALER" 1201 Dundas St. E., Whitby 668-5846 For easy car repairs When it comes to major repairs needing attention, most of us take our car to a good garage. But there are a lot of minor repairs you can make inside and outside the car which will keep your car in good shape.. Here are a few suggestions. Rein- force the rubber molding around doors, windshield and back lights by using a little of Elmer's Stix-All to fill in the small holes and gaps. Give it 12 hours or so to cure. Check the edges of the upholstery and rug, and glue back any loose spots. The sooner you attend to the lit- tle breaks, the less chance you'Il need to do a big upholstery or carpeting job later. If the plate (plastic or metal) around the heater and air conditioning con- trols start to come loose, squeeze a drop or two of Stix-All in the gap and hold in place for several minutes. Any excess is easy to wipe off with a damp cloth.†t National Award shows Ziebart Nhitby's excellence, professionalism Whitby, Ontario - Ziebart Dar Improvement Centre, ocated at 440 Hopkins St., las won two awards - one in- :ernational, one national - for >utstanding sales perfor- nance.
