Carl Heywood opened a show of his selected prints from 1980-86 last week at the Station Gallery. The 32 pieces in the show refleet the range of Heywood's techincal and artistic influences. Working in silkscreening, etching, lithography, collage and handwork, and often com- bining, the techniques to arrive at his desired effect, Heywood's work displays a surprising variety of imagery and form. "In the last 25 years there has been a tremendous ex- plosion of printmaking," said the artist, in a recent interview. "It 'can include so m rany variables: photography, drawing, painting.- Painting or drawing can be very limiting but in printmaking I have this feeling of tremendous freedom.
