COMING EVENTS CALENDAR SPORTS VOLUNTEERS SEMINAR The Town of Whitby, Parks -and- Recreation Department and the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation wil be co- sponsoring a Workshop ta introduce sports and recreation volunteer executives ta new in- novative ways ta raising the dollars they need ta make their organizations suc- cessful. CARBAGE PATCH PICNIC On July 16 there will be a cabbage patch kid picnic at the Whitby Public Library. The program will run fromn 2:45 until 3:45 and if weather permits there will be cookies and lemonade served on the lawn. BLOCK PARENTS' DRAW The Whtby-Brooklin Block Parents are having their annual fund raiser and tickets are now available fromn ail school chairpersons and the Brooldin Bakery. The draw tickets are $1 each and the draw will be held oct. 25 at the Mc- Donalds Restaurant in Whitby. Al proceeds are used for educational aids and operating ex- penses for the comning year so please support Block Parents and buy a ticket. At this time the organization would like to remind ail Block Parents that summer is here and- the children are ail out of school for the holidays. NATIONAL INTER- PRETATION AWARENESS This is just a remin- der that National Inter- pretation Awareness Week is coming up July 14 ta 20. THEOS The local chapter of THEOS will meet on Sunday, July 13 begini- ning at 2 p.m. in St. An- drews Presbyterian Church on Cochrane St. THEOS is a self help group for widowed people who are having problems coping with their grief. SENIORS' ACTIVITY CENTRE There's a full slate of activities on this month at the Whitby Seniors' Activity Centre so plan ta drap by the centre and laok over the July calendar of events.
