Chairman, Commissioner of Planning Planning Committee Oshawa dies Pickering Oshawa Turul Checkers Varjety, under nine's, tied Pickering No. 1 2-2 in their last game of the season on two goals scored by Kevin Higney. Pickering twice went ahead in the game only to have Turul tie things up - the second time with only two minutes left in the game. Checkers finished with a 10-2-2 record good for third place but only one point shy of second spot, and scored 69 goals while conceding only 19. Checkers will now play Whitby in their first pay-off game. Oshawa Turual Shop- pers Drug Mart, under 14's. were beaten by FROM PG. 15 Oshawa Italia 2-1 with Joey lantomasi saving the single. Again Shoppers con- trolled the game but could not convert their many changes into goals. This loss leaves them tied for second place in the under 16 league - tied in points with Oshawa Soccer Club and necessîtates a deciding game between these teams to decide who will pick up the runners-up trophy. This game is scheduled for Civic Field No. 4 on Saturday, Sept. 6 - kick-off 2 pr. Shoppers Dr-ug Mart have also been 'drawn' against the soccer club for the first round play- off game and this is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8 at Civic Field No. 4 - kick-off 6p.m. Oshawa Turul, under 15's sponsored by Park- view I.G.A. finished off their league schedule with a 6-2 win over Oshawa Soccer Club in the under 16 division. I.G.A. won 13, lost 0 and tied 2, good for first place. The under 15's will play Oshawa Italia in the play-off first round at Civic Field No. 3 on Monday, Sept. 8 - kick- off 6p.m. winni ng mun at the plate in both the sixth and seventh innings as they lost 9-6 in an exciting finale. Tim Imeson and Keith Milîs had two hits a piece in this final game of the season for the Whitby Tyke team. Although they failed to win Ail Ontario the team had an excellent season winning 28 games while only losing 12.
