The over-expenditure is required due to the deteriorating condition of the roof. Earlier in the year council had ap- proved repairing the roof at a cost of $13,500. But groups using the building have recently informed the town that the roof leaks are in- creasing. A further examination of the roof by Foran's Roofing showed there was more damage than ' first reported in 1985. In an attempt to get financial - assistance from the province the Parks and Recreation department made a grant application to the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation but was tur- ned down. Council therefore ap- proved the over- expenditure in order to have the roof repaired before the winter season. Repairs to the roof in- clude new asphalt shingles to cover the en- tire roof and flashing and eavestroughing.
