RYRIE ' Durham Co-ordinator * Wýlhitby robbery Durham Regional Police and Crime Stop- pers are asking for the pubhce's assistance in solvlng a robbery.which occurred in Whitby on March 16,1985. During the early evening the victim was drinking at the SpruceVilla Hotel and had met two men who had offered to drive hlm home to Scarborough. Atabout 9:30 p.m. he left the hotel with the men, one of whom got into the driver's seat of the victim'a vehicle. -a.e victim got in the passengers aide and was hit on the head, and knocked out. Some time later the victim woke up being driven on a gravel road and aaked the suspect what was happening. At this point the suspect pulled over and threatened the victim with a 6" knife demanding his money. The victim gave him about $350 and waa then pushed from the vehicle. The victim'a vehicle was later found aban- doned about five miles from the hotel. The suapecca are described as: White maie, mid 20's, 5S8", 160 Ibs, short dark brown hair, <well dressed and white maie, mid 20's, 5'9", 190 lbs reddish-brown hair and moustache, well.dressed with a blIte windbreaker. Crime Stoppera will pay up to $1,000 for in- formation leading to the arrest of persons responsible for thia offence. Similar amounts will be pnid for TIPS leading to an arreat in any serious crime. The scholarship la given to the student with highest marks in Gr. 13. She also. received the high achievement award, chemistry and math awards. Bain, Mattie Law and Marc Shepley were awarded as the top three Gr. 13 students. Scott Currier was valedictorian and was honored as the school'a CAROLINE BAIN top student in the senior high , achool mathematica contest. Robert Weiss received the Mayor's Medal for outatanding leaderahip. He a-1so received the English award. Antonia Guidotti ANTONIA GUIDOTTI received the Kiwanis Club bursary, Whitefield trophy, Nelson Shield, French award, outstandlng female athiete award and shared the achool honor prize with Martin Drews. Shepley also received the Rotary Club prize and Gr. 13 physica award. Rachel Marah was awarded as top music student and also received the senior band award. David Lawson received the art award and Atteraley technical award. Veronica, Wilson-Peters received the Legion ladies auxiiary bursary and Gr. 12 math award.
