Nieuwendyk had eight points as. his Cornel University 'team split their ffrst two games of the season in the Eastern Colege Athletic Conference. The 20-year-old forward scored two -goals and added two asslsts in a 6-5 loss to Army last Friday. On Saturday, he scored three goals and set up another goal to lead Corneil to a 7-4 win over Princeton. "Hle's pretty much the best forward in the east," says John Heron, of Cornel's, sports information depart- ment. Keith Pruneau scored aIl four goals as Whitby, an AA team, doubled the AAA team from Thornihill 4-2 on Saturday in Whitby. Mitchell and Bobby Torrens Split goaltending duties for Whitby in the game against Mississauga, an AAA team from the Metro League. Pimeau says his team has played extremely well s0 far this season, wîth ail three forward uines strong. Top curlers linecd up for upcomiing Whitby spiel Some of the top curlers in Canada will be taking part in tbis year's Ontario Sun Life Invitational Bonspiel in Whltby Nov. 2'7 to 30. Gord Carroil of the Witby Curling Club says this year's bonspiel wll be one of the best for quality entrants, wvth names such as Werenlch, Base, Aitken, Kawaja, Charlebols and Savage lncluded among the bst in culng wbo wlllbebhere. ,, Carroil- says ,, ýtle tournament bas become very popular with Quebec curlers, who have five rinks in this year's bonspiel and more who tried to enter. Fifteen teams were on the waiting list for this year's bonspiel, which bas prize money totaling $21,200, tbe second largest pot in Ontario curling. Representing Wbitby wiil be the Stu Bennett rink and John Brotherbood's four- h. Te ennettrink was runner-up in last years Sun Life to Ed Werenich's rink from the Avonlea Curling Club in Scarborough. Werenich won the world title inl1983. Bennett's rink consists of vice Roy Weigand, Second Bob Leclair and Lead Joe Hagen. Skip John Brotberhood bas Carrol as vice, Murray Moynes second and Jim Booth as lead.
