Verge, 17, a student at Anderson CVI, had four goals and two assist i the team's first 14 games this season. Verge played for the Whitby-Brooklin midget rep team last year. He scored 50 goals and added 40 assists to twin most valuable players honors for ail 12 tearne in the midget league. "I hope to play Canadlan Olympic hockey, and maybe NHL hockey," said Verge of future plans. Meanwhlle Craig Fisher bas fired eight goals and assisted on seven others for 15 points , in the Legionaires', first 14 games. Fisher had previously won honors i minor hockey tournaments, including most valuable player in the Bramalea Silver Stick tournament. Hockey is a tradition in the Fisher. famlly. Craig, 16, plays along older brother Mark, 18, on the Legionaires. Mark Fisher is in bis second season with the Oshawa club. He played in 1984-85 and was injured for almost ail of last season. He bas banged in five goals and picked up five assists for il points in 14 games. 'Craig hopes to get drafted and go tbe NHL tbrougb the junior hockey system," says Mark of bis younger brother. Anderson midgets winLOSSA volleyball By MMKELAPLANTE Last Tuesday, Nov. il, Anderson CVI's midget boys' voileybail team burled their competition at LOSSA. They went ail the way to first place Iosing only one game. They played Pickering ln the finals winning 15-7 and 15-13. "The team played very consistently. They didn't lose their composure, it was a real team effort," said coach Hamilton. The junior boys team at Anderson did almost as well by placing second at LOSSA. They lost out to Pickering two games to one. The tbree Most outstanding players were Tim Tatcheil, Pete Needham and Gene Rainey. The team looks forward to DYSSA. Senior, boys swept their tournament to give Anderson a second LOSSA championship in two days. They defeated Port Perry in the finals 15-10 and 15-7. The rnost outstanding player was Rob Angolis, middle attacker. Cawker wins' three gold Meggan Anne Cawker of Whltby earned three gold medals and a silver in reent figure skating Cawker, a' member of the Oshawa Figure Skating Club, won gold in the final of the jwellninar ladies free skate at the Anherst annual invitational in New York state Oct. 25. The Oshawa Figure Skating Club member whs given a 5.3 by the judges in the final to finish ahead of Jennie Sansano of Fort Erie, who had a 4.8. Elizabeth Handley of Arnherst'had '4.4 <points to take the bronze. Cawker, a Gr. 6 student at Whitby Senior Public School, won the gold in her fligbt in pre- juvenile at the Skokie Skate '86 competition in Huntsville Nov.1. She had 16.1 points to defeat Jennifer Cote- of Sudbury, wbo had 15.5 points, and Rebecca MecGcwan of Bracebridge, 14.7 points. In the pre-juvenile final of the competition, Cawker earned the silver, behind gold-medaist Klmberly Muio of the Lake Superior skate club. Cawker struck gold the following weekend in the pre- preliminary final of the Skate Cobourg competition. She bad. 20.6 points to take first ahead of two Oshawa 'club teammates, Sherri Klawitter, who had 19.1i points, and Iffani Foster, 18.7 y MEGGAN CAWKER, 11, continues to win gold ini figure skating.
